Why we stopped calling ourselves "just an agency"

Why we stopped calling ourselves "just an agency"

Most digital agencies stop at pixels. Most software houses stop at code. We built Round Bytes to live in the messy, productive middle, where brand strategy, UX craft, and shipping engineering sit in the same room.
That matters because modern digital products don't fail at "design" or "development", they fail in the handoff. The brief gets softer, the scope slips, the brand vision gets diluted by the time an engineer picks it up. Five years of client work taught us that the only reliable fix is one team owning the whole arc: research → brand → design → build → launch → iterate.
Being a creative and software house also means we take product risk seriously. When we recommend a stack, a CMS, or a payment flow, we're the ones who'll be maintaining it if we win the retainer. That changes how we design. Cheap shortcuts become expensive when you're on the hook for them.
It's also why we ship our own products alongside client work. Optserv, our HR and operations SaaS, and Tucope, our community app for migrant workers in Taiwan, both started inside Round Bytes and are still maintained by the same team. Living with our own products keeps the craft honest. Every brand decision has to survive contact with production code. Every engineering decision has to serve the brand story.
For clients, the practical upshot is simple: fewer vendors, fewer translation losses, faster time to a working product. If you've worked with siloed agencies before and felt that weird friction, this is why we work the way we do.
